Tuberculosis Research-Cloning of roMRX1-roGFP2 for diagnostic TB techniques

2017

In the summer of 2017 I had the amazing opportunity to conduct a research based internship in Bangalore, India. I was awarded the S.N Bose scholarship and was placed at the Indian Institute of Science(IISC).  Specifically I worked at the Center for Infectious Disease Research(CIDR) under Dr. Amit Sighn and Somnath Shee.  We conducted research on TB and virulent pathways. Specifically REDOX reactions and how they relate to viral pathogens.

Ongoing research prevents me from releasing all of my researched performed.

Through this experience I learned a tremendous amount of communication, time management, organization, attention to detail, and working with a team.  Learning how to plate bacteria, run PCR equipment, and about general infectious disease research was an amazing benefit of this internship.   Furthermore, being in a foreign country really gave me a different perspective on design and innovation.  I carried these skills with me in my design projects I conducted after this internship and always received positive comments from professors and other students about how  differently I  thought about things.
